 Meet green duck customs

Our story

While Green Duck Custom Furniture & Woodworking officially launched in 2024, it is a both a shop and an idea that is years in the making.

We are a veteran owned and operated small business that our owner, Greg, has slowly been building for over a decade. Formally known as GAS Customs, we decided to rebrand to more effectively capture what our business has become.

Our goal is to create awesome locally crafted products that consistently exceed our customer’s expectations.

Our business operates on two distinct but complementary lines of effort:

  1. Semi-Custom professionally designed and crafted products that are available for shipping across the United States.

  2. Commissioned and 100% custom furniture pieces designed, built, and delivered to each customer’s exacting specifications.

Our Process

Material Selection & Sourcing:

As woodworkers, we know everything revolves around the lumber we carefully hand select for each project. Therefore, we have relentlessly cultivated and tested a network of local supply sources that can reliably provide our business the highest quality wood. Our lumber is:

  • Locally sourced in North Carolina.

  • Hand Selected for each project.

  • All of our lumber is sourced rough and milled in our shop to exacting specifications.

  • Sustainably harvested and environmentally responsible.

Design and Build:

Everything starts with the design. For our off-the-shelf and semi custom products, we have rigorously tested and practiced our in house design and build processes to ensure high quality and consistent results. For our custom commissioned projects, we rely heavily on customer injects coupled with virtual design modeling to ensure we deliver our clients exactly what they want.

Finish Process:

We fundamentally believe in showcasing the natural beauty of our wood products. Therefore, in our opinion, if you want a “walnut colored finish” one should utilize walnut lumber for the project. While this is the more expensive approach, it provides the best product for our customers.

In addition, we leverage environmentally friendly professionally applied professional grade finishing products from manufacturers such as General Finishes and Target Coatings. Depending on the finish, we utilize professional grade high volume low pressure (HVLP) turbine spray systems to achieve the smoothest and clearest top coats. In general, we typical utilize:

  • Waterborne Spray Lacquers and Acrylic Urethanes for crystal clear top coats on pieces requiring the most protection.

  • Hard Wax Oils for classic matte and low sheen finishes on pieces that require less durability.

  • Food Safe Mineral Oil, Bees Wax, and Caranuba Wax for our cutting boards (custom in house formula).

Bottom line- We have spent a long time testing and refining our finishing processes so you can feel confident our products will last for generations when properly cared for.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Our guiding philosophy is centered around providing the highest quality and carefully crafted products for our customers. To do this, we need to effectively communicate with our clients, remain committed to the exacting standards of our craft, and ultimately deliver our products on time and as specified.
