MARSOC/USMC Executive Challenge Coin Display
A quick google search will produce endless options for displaying your hard earned challenge coins. While many of these are great options, none of them fit what we were looking for. So, we set out to design and make our own. We based our design on the following:
Simple and understated (to match the silent warrior ethos).
Would look great in a professional office setting or in your your home office/den/bar.
Ability to display your most meaningful coins, but not necessarily all of them.
Constructed from US Hardwoods (and if you know anything about us, we love the big four— Cherry, Walnut, White Oak, and Maple)
Be able to display different shapes and sizes of challenge coins.
So, we present our version of the military challenge coin display:
These displays measure approximately 21.5’” long and 2.75” wide and is constructed from 3/4” thick hardwood with rubber feet which slightly elevates the display off the surface it is is resting on. For some detail, the edges of each piece sport a nice double beaded profile. All displays are finished with a professionally sprayed precatalyzed waterborne conversion varnish finish which provides a subtle hue to the natural wood tones of each piece.
Each display has 4 rows for holding coins (each approximately 7.25” long) with a laser engraved emblem/logo in the center. While challenge coin sizes vary, these are designed to hold 4 standard size round challenge coins per row, so a total of 16 per display. Please see pictures for more details and how larger sizes and odd shapes fit.
For our initial introduction of these displays, we are offering them in either Hard Maple or Black Cherry with a choice of the USMC Eagle, Globe, and Anchor (EGA) Symbol or the Marine Raider Insignia.
(Please note, we produce these under our licensing agreement with the Marine Corps- USMC Hobbyist 537-24).
Notes:
As a design note, we did make some tradeoffs with this design in order for it to fit the widest variety of coins. Everything with a flat or round bottom works very well. Those coins that are tabbed/hexagon shape tend to lean to the side a bit if the unit is bumped, etc.
These are individually crafted items and no one item will look exactly the same as others due to normal/natural variations in wood grain and tone. Black Cherry will naturally darken over time from a pinkish hue to a much deeper brown/red. Hard Maple will change color much less dramatically, but it will become more “golden” over time.
Also, these coin displays are made to order. Allow 2-4 weeks for build time once your order is placed.
As always, we can customize any product we offer. Please contact us for more details- sales@greenduckcustoms.com.
